Bumble gathers sensitive profile, location, and messaging data and grants itself a wide license to your content. Subscriptions auto-renew and disputes go to arbitration in the US.
The clauses that could affect you the most. Read these even if you skip everything else.
Unless you opt out within 31 days, you must resolve disputes through binding individual arbitration and give up class actions and jury trials.
Bumble's total liability to you is capped at just $100, and you release it from claims arising from other users' conduct β including personal injury or death.
Anything you post grants Bumble a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, edit, and even advertise with your content, and it can transfer that license to affiliates.
Subscriptions and free trials auto-renew and are generally nonrefundable, and deleting the app or your account does NOT cancel billing.
Bumble can terminate your account at its sole discretion for any reason (including off-app conduct) with no refund, and can change the terms anytime with continued use counting as acceptance.

Termination at sole discretion, no refund
βAccount terminationπ¬ Bumble can suspend or delete your account at any time for basically any reason it chooses, including your behavior off the app or on other apps run by its affiliates, and you get no refund for services you already paid for.
βwe expressly reserve the right to terminate or suspend your Account without notice (1) for violating these Terms, (2) due to your conduct on the App, or your conduct with other users of the App (including your βofflineβ conduct), if we, in our sole discretion, determine your conduct was inappropriate or improper, (3) if we or our affiliates, in our or their sole discretion, determine your conduct on other apps operated by our affiliates was inappropriate or improper, or (4) for any reasons whatsoever that we deem, in our sole discretion, justifies termination. If your Account is terminated or suspended, you agree you will not receive a refund for any paid service or features you have already been charged for.β
Facebook data collection
π₯Data collectionπ¬ If you sign up with Facebook, Bumble pulls data from your Facebook profile, including info about your friends.
βIf you create an Account using your Facebook login details, you authorize us to access, display and use certain information from your Facebook account (e.g. profile pictures, relationship status, location and information about Facebook friends).β
Perpetual worldwide content license
πClaims your contentπ¬ Anything you post gives Bumble a permanent, free, worldwide right to use, edit, and republish it in almost any way forever β even for advertising β with no time limit.
βautomatically grant us a non-exclusive, royalty free, perpetual, worldwide license to use Your Content in any way (including, without limitation, editing, copying, modifying, adapting, translating, reformatting, creating derivative works from, incorporating into other works, advertising, distributing and otherwise making available to the general public such Content, whether in whole or in part and in any format or medium currently known or developed in the future).β
License assignable to affiliates
πShares with third partiesπ¬ Bumble can pass the rights to your content to its affiliates or any company that buys it without asking you.
βWe may assign and/or sub-license the above license to our affiliates and successors without any further approval by you.β
No obligation to store your content
πOtherπ¬ Bumble won't guarantee it keeps your content, so back up anything important yourself.
βWe do not have any obligation to store Your Content - if it's important, you should make a copy.β
Broad release of claims from user interactions
π‘οΈLimits their liabilityπ¬ You waive the right to sue Bumble for anything that happens because of other users β including physical harm or even death β with a narrow carve-out for Bumble's own fraud or unconscionable conduct.
βYou agree to, and hereby do, release Bumble Group and its successors from any claims, demands, losses, damages, rights, and actions of any kind, including personal injuries, death and property damage, that either directly or indirectly arises from your interactions with or conduct of other users of the App.β
Criminal background checks not reliable
πOtherπ¬ Bumble may do some background checks but warns they are incomplete and unreliable β don't assume other users have been vetted.
βANY INVESTIGATIONS FOR CRIMINAL HISTORIES MAY GIVE MEMBERS A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. THE CHECKS FOR CRIMINAL HISTORIES THAT MAY BE CONDUCTED BY THE BUMBLE GROUP ARE NOT A PERFECT SAFETY SOLUTION.β
Automatic subscription renewal
πAuto-renewsπ¬ Subscriptions renew automatically and charge you again at whatever price Bumble is charging at that time unless you cancel before the period ends.
βIF YOU PURCHASE AN AUTOMATICALLY RENEWING SUBSCRIPTION, YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WILL RENEW AT THE END OF THE PERIOD, UNLESS YOU CANCEL, AT BUMBLE'S THEN-CURRENT PRICE FOR SUCH SUBSCRIPTIONS.β
Free trial converts to paid
πAuto-renewsπ¬ If you don't cancel a free trial in time, it automatically turns into a paid subscription and you get charged.
βIf you sign up for a free trial and do not cancel, your trial may convert into a paid subscription and your Payment Method will be charged at the then-current price for such subscription.β
Deleting account does not cancel subscription
πOtherπ¬ Removing the app or your account won't stop billing β you must separately cancel the subscription (via the app store if you bought it there).
βDeleting your account or deleting the application from your device does not cancel your subscription.β
Charges generally nonrefundable
πOtherπ¬ You generally can't get a refund, even for time you didn't use, except where specific state or non-US laws require it.
βGenerally, all charges for purchases are nonrefundable, and there are no refunds or credits for partially used periods.β
Price changes accepted by continued use
πCan change terms anytimeπ¬ Bumble can raise prices; if you don't cancel after being notified, you're deemed to accept the higher price.
βIf Bumble changes these prices and you do not cancel your subscription, you agree that you will be charged at Bumble's then-current pricing for subscription.β
Virtual items non-refundable and revocable
πOtherπ¬ Virtual items you buy are never refundable, can be changed or eliminated by Bumble at any time, and you lose them all with no compensation if your account closes.
βALL PURCHASES AND REDEMPTIONS OF VIRTUAL ITEMS MADE THROUGH OUR SERVICES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT BUMBLE IS NOT REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A REFUND FOR ANY REASON, AND THAT YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE MONEY OR OTHER COMPENSATION FOR UNUSED VIRTUAL ITEMS WHEN AN ACCOUNT IS CLOSED.β
Service provided 'as is', no warranties
π‘οΈLimits their liabilityπ¬ Bumble makes no promises that the app works properly, is secure, or that your matches will be good β you use it entirely at your own risk.
βTHE APP, SITE, OUR CONTENT, AND MEMBER CONTENT ARE ALL PROVIDED TO YOU βAS ISβ AND βAS AVAILABLEβ WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED... WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE COMPATIBILITY OF ANY MATCHES.β
Liability capped at $100
π‘οΈLimits their liabilityπ¬ Even if Bumble is at fault, the most you can recover is $100, and Bumble excludes almost all types of damages.
βIF ANY PORTION OF THIS LIMITATION ON LIABILITY IS FOUND TO BE INVALID OR UNENFORCEABLE FOR ANY REASON, THEN OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).β
You must cover Bumble's legal costs
π‘οΈLimits their liabilityπ¬ If a third party sues Bumble over something related to your use of the app or your content, you have to pay Bumble's costs and legal fees.
βyou agree to indemnify, defend, release, and hold us... harmless, from and against any third party claims, damages (actual and/or consequential), actions, proceedings, demands, losses, liabilities, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) suffered or reasonably incurred by us arising as a result of, or in connection with... your access to and use of the App.β
Mandatory binding arbitration
βοΈForced arbitrationπ¬ Unless you opt out within 31 days, you must settle almost all disputes through private binding arbitration instead of going to court.
βUnless you opt out in the manner described in Section 15(10) below, this Arbitration Agreement requires you and Bumble Group to resolve disputes by binding arbitration instead of in court, and limits the manner in which we may seek relief from each other.β
Class action waiver
π«No class actionπ¬ You give up the right to join with other users in a class action; you can only bring claims individually.
βAll claims and disputes within the scope of this Arbitration Agreement MUST BE ARBITRATED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT ON A CLASS OR COLLECTIVE BASIS, AND YOU AND BUMBLE GROUP GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION OR ANY OTHER CLASS PROCEEDING.β
31-day opt-out window
βοΈForced arbitrationπ¬ You can escape the arbitration requirement, but only by emailing Bumble within 31 days of signing up.
βUsers who create a Bumble account for the first time on or after July 24, 2023 may opt out of this Arbitration Agreement by sending written notice of your decision to opt out to: bumbleoptout@bumble.com, within 31 days after first becoming subject to this Arbitration Agreement.β
Termination and cooperation with law enforcement
βAccount terminationπ¬ If Bumble decides you broke the rules, it can delete your content and account without a refund and hand your content over to law enforcement.
βBumble Group reserves the right to: (a) warn you via email that you have violated the Terms; (b) delete your User Content; (c) discontinue your Account; (d) discontinue your subscription(s) without refund; (e) notify and/or send your User Content to and/or fully cooperate with the proper law enforcement authorities for further action.β
Terms can change anytime, use = acceptance
πCan change terms anytimeπ¬ Bumble can change these terms whenever it wants, and simply continuing to use the app means you accept the new terms β they may not email you.
βwe reserve the right to modify, amend or change the Terms at any time (a βChangeβ). If we do this then the Changes will be posted on this page... Your continued use of Bumble following any Change constitutes your acceptance of the Change and you will be legally bound by the new updated Terms.β
International data transfer
π₯Data collectionπ¬ Your personal data may be sent to and stored in various countries, including the US, wherever Bumble operates servers.
βyou agree to the transfer of your personal information to, and storage and processing of your personal information in, any such countries and destinations.β
Terms assignable by Bumble only
πOtherπ¬ Bumble can transfer this agreement to another company, but you cannot.
βThese Terms, and any rights and licenses granted hereunder, may not be transferred or assigned by you, but may be assigned by us without restriction.β
Texas law and Travis County courts
πJurisdictionπ¬ Any non-arbitration disputes must be handled under Texas law in Texas courts, which may be far and costly for you, and you again waive class actions.
βthese Terms are governed and interpreted by the laws of the State of Texas. All claims arising out of or relating to these Terms... will be litigated exclusively in the federal or state courts of Travis County, Texas. You agree that such courts shall have personal jurisdiction and venue and waive any objection based on inconvenient forum. You agree that you will not file or participate in a class action against us.β
